Ethical Principles and Ethics Committee Approval

Ethical Principles and Ethics Committee Approval

The International Journal of Agriculture, Environment and Food Sciences is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in scholarly publishing. The journal follows the ethical guidelines set forth by TR Dizin, and aligns with international best practices as outlined by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics), ICMJE, and WAME.

In accordance with the TR Dizin Ethical Guidelines, authors must obtain ethics committee approval for studies that involve data collection through qualitative or quantitative methods, especially those involving human participants, animals, or sensitive personal data.

Scope of Ethics Committee Approval
Authors are required to obtain and declare ethics committee approval prior to conducting research in the following cases:
Studies involving human participants using data collection tools such as:
- Questionnaires
- Interviews
- Focus group discussions
- Observations
- Experiments
Clinical studies involving human subjects
Research involving the use of animals (including tissues, biological samples, or retrospective data)

Studies involving personal data under national/international data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, KVKK)

For such studies, an official document from an authorized ethics committee must be uploaded at the time of manuscript submission.

Manuscript Declaration Requirements
If ethics committee approval was obtained, this must be clearly stated in the Ethical Approval section of the article, including:
- Name of the approving institution
- Date of approval
- Approval number or protocol ID

If ethics committee approval is not required, authors must explicitly state this in the article, citing the reason. For example:
- “This study does not require ethics committee approval as it does not involve human or animal participants, or data subject to ethical review.”

In such cases, authors are required to upload a signed Ethics Statement Declaration Form, declaring the exemption status.

Additional Ethical Responsibilities
Authors must also ensure the following:
Informed consent is obtained and declared in the manuscript when reporting case studies or involving human data.
Permissions are acquired for the use of any non-original materials, including:
- Proprietary scales and questionnaires
- Images or figures created by others
Copyright compliance is maintained for all intellectual and artistic works used.
