The International Journal of Agriculture, Environment and Food Sciences welcomes well-designed Special Issues that
address emerging topics, interdisciplinary approaches, and critical challenges within the journal’s scope.
All Special Issues are conducted in accordance with COPE best practices, the journal’s
ethical standards, and regular peer-review policies.

Proposal Submission

Researchers interested in serving as Guest Editors may submit a Special Issue proposal to: editorialoffice@jaefs.com.

Each proposal is evaluated by the Editorial Board for scientific relevance, scope alignment, and editorial feasibility.
The final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief. If accepted, Guest Editors are responsible for coordinating peer review,
managing communications with authors/reviewers, and preparing an editorial introduction.

Proposal Requirements

• Title of the Special Issue
• Rationale (justification and relevance of the topic)
• Scope and list of potential themes
• Guest Editorial Team (names, affiliations, brief bios)
• Tentative timeline (submission deadline, final decision date, target publication date)
• Estimated number of papers (typically 5–10 full-length articles + 1 editorial)

Peer Review and Editorial Workflow

• Manuscripts can be submitted once the Special Issue is announced.
• All submissions undergo double-blind peer review aligned with the journal’s policies.
• Guest Editors handle submissions within the issue, excluding any papers authored by themselves or close collaborators.
• To avoid conflicts of interest, Guest Editors must not handle or review manuscripts from recent co-authors or the same institution.
• The Editor-in-Chief may assign independent reviewers, oversee/override editorial decisions, and reject submissions that fail to meet quality, scope, or ethical standards.
• Accepted articles are posted as early access and compiled into the designated Special Issue.

Ethical Responsibilities of Guest Editors

• Ensure objectivity, transparency, and confidentiality throughout peer review.
• Use the journal’s official submission and review system for all communications.
• Disclose any actual/potential conflicts of interest immediately.
• Protect reviewer and author privacy; comply with COPE guidance and journal ethics.

Publication Policy for Guest Editors

• Guest Editors may publish only one manuscript in their own Special Issue.
• They cannot be involved in the editorial handling or review of their own submissions; such papers are overseen by the Editorial Board.
• Citation manipulation is strictly prohibited; references must be scientifically justified.

Plagiarism Screening

All submissions are screened using iThenticate or intihal.net before peer review.
As a general benchmark, manuscripts with overall similarity indices above 24% (excluding references and properly quoted material)
are not considered. Editorial judgement may be applied based on the nature of overlaps and field conventions.

Fees and Transparency

The journal does not charge submission or APC fees. An Editorial Processing Charge (EPC) is required
prior to peer review for Special Issue submissions as well, covering editorial management, production, DOI registration, hosting, indexing, and preservation.
