Special Issue Policy

Special Issue Policy

The International Journal of Agriculture, Environment and Food Sciences welcomes proposals for Special Issues that address emerging topics, interdisciplinary approaches, and critical challenges within the journal’s scope.

Proposal Submission
Researchers interested in serving as Guest Editors may submit a Special Issue proposal to:
 editor@jaefs.com

Each proposal will be evaluated by the Editorial Board. The final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief based on the scientific relevance, scope alignment, and editorial feasibility of the proposal.
If accepted, Guest Editors will be responsible for coordinating the peer review process, managing communications with authors and reviewers, and preparing an editorial introduction for the issue.

Proposal Requirements
Proposals must include:
- Title of the Special Issue
- Rationale (justification and relevance of the proposed topic)
- Scope and list of potential themes
- Guest Editorial Team (names, affiliations, brief bios)
- Tentative timeline (submission deadline, final decision date, target publication date)
- Estimated number of papers (typically 5–10 full-length articles + 1 editorial)

Peer Review and Editorial Workflow
- Manuscripts can be submitted once the Special Issue is announced.
- All manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer review.
- Guest Editors will handle submissions within the issue, excluding any articles authored by themselves or close collaborators.
- To avoid conflicts of interest, Guest Editors must not:
Handle articles submitted by recent co-authors or colleagues from the same institution
Serve as reviewers for such submissions
- The Editor-in-Chief retains the right to:
Assign independent reviewers,
Oversee or override editorial decisions when necessary,
Reject submissions that fail to meet quality, scope, or ethical standards.
All accepted articles will be published as early access and compiled into the designated Special Issue.

Ethical Responsibilities of Guest Editors
Special Issues are governed by the same ethical and editorial principles as regular issues. Guest Editors must ensure:
- Objectivity, transparency, and confidentiality throughout the review process
- Use of the journal's official submission and review system for all communications
- Immediate disclosure of any conflicts of interest
- Protection of reviewer and author privacy
The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to modify or cancel a Special Issue in case of ethical breaches or non-compliance with editorial policy.

Publication Policy for Guest Editors
- Guest Editors may publish only one manuscript in their own Special Issue.
- They may not be involved in the editorial handling or review of their own submissions. Such manuscripts will be overseen by the Editorial Board.
- Citation manipulation is strictly prohibited. Guest Editors must not request authors to cite specific works for the purpose of increasing citations.

Plagiarism Screening
All submissions are screened using iThenticate or intihal.net before peer review.
Articles with similarity indices above 24% (excluding references and legally quoted material) will not be considered.
Following the similarity check, manuscripts are assessed for:
- Originality and scientific contribution
- Methodological soundness
- Alignment with the scope and objectives of the journal
