Ethical Guidelines for Editors

Ethical Guidelines for Editors

The International Journal of Agriculture, Environment and Food Sciences follows the editorial ethics and publication integrity principles outlined by the
Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE),
the
Council of Science Editors (CSE),
and the
International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).
Editors are responsible for ensuring the scientific quality, ethical integrity, and transparency of the journal’s editorial and peer review processes

Editorial Responsibilities

  • Editorial Independence: Editors make publication decisions independently, based solely on scientific merit and relevance to the journal’s scope, without influence from sponsors or other external parties.
  • Fair Evaluation: Submissions are evaluated impartially, without discrimination based on nationality, gender, institutional affiliation, or political/religious beliefs.
  • Confidentiality: Editors must treat all submitted manuscripts and reviewer identities as confidential and may not disclose any information to unauthorized individuals.
  • Conflict of Interest: Editors must disclose any personal, academic, or financial conflicts that could affect their judgment and recuse themselves when such conflicts arise.
  • Reviewer Management: Editors are responsible for selecting qualified reviewers, ensuring a fair double-blind process, and preventing reviewer misconduct or bias.
  • Decision Transparency: Editorial decisions must be clearly justified, documented, and communicated to authors through the DergiPark system.

Ethical Oversight and Misconduct

Editors must act promptly and transparently when ethical issues arise, including plagiarism, data fabrication, redundant publication, or authorship disputes.
In such cases, the editorial team will follow COPE flowcharts and recommendations to ensure appropriate corrective action, which may include correction, retraction, or rejection.

  • Editors must maintain detailed documentation of all editorial actions.
  • Corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern must be published when necessary to maintain the scholarly record.
  • Editors should collaborate with authors and institutions to investigate and resolve ethical concerns.

Editorial Integrity Statement: Editors are custodians of the scientific record and must uphold the highest standards of editorial transparency, fairness, and accountability throughout all publication stages.
