JOURNAL INFORMATION
Publication Schedule and Publication Model
Annual Issue Structure: Six issues per year — February, April, June, August, October, and December.
Publication Model: Continuous Publication.
Medium: Online-only.
Akademik Tarih ve Düşünce Dergisi (ATDD) is an online-only, open-access, peer-reviewed academic journal organized into six issues within each annual volume. Beginning in 2026, the journal adopted the Continuous Publication Model while maintaining its six-issue annual structure.
Under the Continuous Publication Model, individual articles are published online throughout the year as soon as they have completed the editorial evaluation, peer-review, and production processes. Articles do not need to wait for a predetermined issue publication date. Following online publication, each article is assigned to the appropriate issue within the relevant annual volume and receives its DOI and complete bibliographic metadata.
Accordingly, Continuous Publication refers to the timing and method of publishing individual articles, whereas the six-issue structure refers to the journal's annual volume and issue organization. The adoption of Continuous Publication does not eliminate or replace the journal's six-issue annual structure.
ISSN Metadata Note
The journal's current ISSN record (ISSN 2148-2292) lists its publication frequency as “Continuously Updated.” This designation reflects the publication-frequency option used in the ISSN registration system for journals operating under the Continuous Publication model.
The ISSN registration system does not currently permit “Continuously Updated” and a separate annual frequency designation such as “Six issues per year” to be recorded simultaneously for the same publication. Therefore, the ISSN record and the journal's publication website use these terms at different metadata levels.
For clarity:
ISSN publication-frequency designation: Continuously Updated
Annual issue structure: Six issues per year
Publication model: Continuous Publication
Publication medium: Online-only
These designations describe the same current publishing practice from different metadata perspectives and do not represent a change or inconsistency in the journal's publication schedule.
