About the Journal
Erciyes University Journal of the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences publishes original scientific research and applied studies. The journal features research articles presenting experimental and theoretical advancements in the fields of science and engineering, including analytical and numerical investigations.
The journal is published three times a year and is indexed in the TR Dizin database. Manuscripts are accepted exclusively through the DergiPark online submission system provided by TÜBİTAK–ULAKBİM. Authors submitting their manuscripts through the system can also track the entire review and publication process online. Each manuscript that meets the submission requirements is assigned by the field editor to at least three independent reviewers.
Submission Policy
All materials submitted to the journal must consist of original research that has not been published previously, accepted for publication, or simultaneously submitted for review to another journal, conference, or similar venue.
Manuscripts may be submitted in Turkish or English.
For manuscripts submitted in Turkish, an English title, abstract, and keywords are required.
The average editorial and peer-review process time for each manuscript is approximately 90 days.
20th Anniversary Special Issue on the Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) Algorithm
The Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm, first published in 2005 with an Erciyes University affiliation and recognized by the Web of Science as one of the most highly cited Turkey-addressed publications, has been successfully used in solving optimization problems by modeling the foraging behavior of honey bees. With its explorer, employed, and onlooker bee components, the ABC algorithm achieves an effective balance of exploration and exploitation—two essential characteristics of a robust optimization algorithm. Its design is closely aligned with real bee behavior and possesses a unique methodological character.
On the 20th anniversary of the ABC algorithm, this Special Issue of the Erciyes University Journal of the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences aims to compile contemporary contributions to the theory and applications of ABC, particularly those addressing complex and large-scale modern optimization challenges.
Scope of the Special Issue
The primary aim of this Special Issue is to highlight recent advances in the theory, methodology, and applications of the ABC algorithm. Submissions related to the following topics are welcome; however, all methodological studies on ABC are also encouraged:
• Development of effective neighborhood operators for solving discrete optimization problems using ABC.
• Enhancing exploration of the Pareto front in multi-objective optimization with advanced ABC variants.
• Investigation of the behavior and performance of the ABC algorithm in dynamic environments.
• Integration of machine learning approaches to guide and improve the ABC search process.
• Use of the ABC algorithm to enhance machine learning methods.
• Applications of the ABC algorithm in the field of cybersecurity.
Keywords: Optimization, Metaheuristic Algorithms, Swarm Intelligence, Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm

Ethics and Compliance Requirements
✯ For all studies that require ethics committee approval, such approval must be obtained, clearly stated within the manuscript, and properly documented.
✯ In research requiring ethics approval, detailed information—the name of the ethics committee, approval date, and approval number—must be included in the Methods section, and additionally on either the first or last page of the manuscript. For case reports, the manuscript must include a statement confirming that written informed consent was obtained from the participant(s).
✯ The journal’s website must include a clear statement confirming that all manuscripts comply with Research and Publication Ethics.
✯ Ethical responsibilities and guidelines for authors, reviewers, and editors must be presented under separate headings on the journal’s website.
✯ Ethical principles must be explicitly stated in the journal and/or on the journal website, with reference to national and international standards. For instance, scientific manuscripts submitted to the journal should follow the recommendations of the ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors) and the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) International Standards for Editors and Authors.
✯ Compliance with relevant copyright regulations is mandatory for all intellectual and artistic works used within the manuscript.
