Author Guidelines

1. The authors can download a Word file in accordance with the format of our journal by clicking on the attached file and format their articles according to the style in this file.

2. Use this template to inform the referees of the adjustments to be made after the referee feedback.

3. When the authors upload the article to the journal, it is assumed that they have accepted the points stated in the Editorial Policy. Also, they also do not need to upload a Copyright Transfer Form.

4. The articles that do not meet the publication and grammar rules are directly rejected.
5. Dear authors, when you submit your article to Dergipark, the author order you enter will be the same author order that will take place and cite after the acceptance of the publication. Please make your choices accordingly. GAUN-JES accepts system data; the changes requests to be made in this regard will not be accepted.

The Gaziantep University Journal of Educational Sciences adopts the production and sharing of scientific knowledge in an impartial manner and in accordance with ethical principles as its fundamental principle. Our journal bases its publication processes on the Higher Education Council (YÖK) Guidelines on Scientific Research and Publication Ethics, TR Dizin standards, and the international guidelines published by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics). In this context, all stakeholders involved in the publication process (authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher) are expected to comply with the following ethical standards.

1. Ethical Responsibilities of Stakeholders

Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Originality and Copyright: Authors acknowledge that the manuscript they submit is original, has not been submitted to any other journal for publication, and has not been previously published. It is the author’s responsibility to ensure that the text, figures, and documents included in the work do not infringe upon the copyrights of others.

Authorship Criteria: Only those who have made a significant intellectual contribution to the design, data collection, analysis, or interpretation of the study should be listed as authors. It is assumed that all authors have individually contributed to the study. Listing individuals who have not contributed constitutes an ethical violation.

Error Notification: Authors are obligated to immediately notify the journal editor if they discover a significant error in their manuscripts under review or in their published works, and to cooperate in correcting or retracting the article.

Disclaimer: It is deemed to be accepted by the authors that the Publisher and Editorial Board of the Gaziantep University Journal of Educational Sciences bear no responsibility for the content, results, information, findings, and interpretations presented in each article submitted to the journal.

Ethical Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

Impartiality and Fair Evaluation: Editors evaluate submitted articles based solely on the scientific content of the article and the journal’s focus, regardless of the authors’ race, gender, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, nationality, or political philosophies.

Confidentiality: Editors and the editorial board are obligated not to disclose any information regarding a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and the publisher.

Conflict of Interest: Editors do not oversee the review process for manuscripts in which they may have a conflict of interest due to their own authorship or institutional affiliations; they delegate this responsibility to another board member.

Review Process: Editors ensure that each article is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the field, using a double-blind peer review process.

Ethical Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

Competence and Timing: Reviewers should accept only those manuscripts that fall within their areas of expertise and that they can evaluate within the specified timeframe.

Confidentiality: The review process is confidential. Manuscripts under review may not be shown to others or discussed without the permission of the journal’s editorial board.

Standards of Objectivity: Reviews must be objective, and personal criticism directed at the author should be avoided. Reviewers should express their opinions using scientific and supporting arguments.

Citation and Plagiarism Detection: Reviewers must identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors and report any potential cases of plagiarism or similarity to the editor.

Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must decline to review a manuscript if they have a conflict of interest with the authors or with any institution or individual associated with the manuscript.

2. Research Ethics and Ethics Committee Approval

In accordance with TR Index criteria, manuscript submissions to our journal must comply with the following research ethics guidelines:

“Ethics Committee Approval” is required for all types of research conducted using qualitative or quantitative approaches that involve collecting data from participants through surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations, experiments, or other interview techniques.

“Ethics Committee Approval” is required for research involving the use of humans and animals (including materials/data) for experimental or other scientific purposes.

Articles must specify in the methodology section whether ethics committee approval and/or legal/special permission is required. If such approvals are required, the article must clearly state from which institution the approval was obtained, the date of approval, and the decision or reference number, and the relevant documentation must be uploaded to the journal’s system.

3. Plagiarism and Ethical Violations Policy

Similarity Report: For all manuscripts submitted for publication in the Gaziantep University Journal of Educational Sciences, it is mandatory to upload a similarity report generated by plagiarism detection software to the system during the submission process.

Procedure in Case of Violation: Our journal follows the COPE flowcharts as a guide in cases of alleged ethical violations, plagiarism, fabrication of data, falsification, or unfair authorship. For published articles in which an ethical violation is detected, the “Retraction” procedure is applied, and the situation may be reported to the author’s affiliated institutions.

4. Artificial Intelligence Usage Policy

In studies submitted to the Gaziantep University Journal of Educational Sciences, AI-supported tools may be used solely as auxiliary tools. Artificial intelligence may not be used in a way that replaces the article’s original scientific contribution, academic interpretation, or results.

The use of text, tables, images, or analyses generated by artificial intelligence without proper citation or disclosure is considered an ethical violation.

The fact that content generated using AI-powered tools cannot be detected by plagiarism detection software does not eliminate the ethical responsibility associated with such content.

Editors reserve the right to request a declaration regarding the use of artificial intelligence and to evaluate it when deemed necessary.

Authors submitting an article to the journal are deemed to have complied with the ethical principles regarding the use of AI-powered tools in the preparation of the work and to have accepted the accuracy of the information they have declared.

5. Conflict of Interest and Disclosures

All authors are required to disclose, at the end of their articles, any financial or personal relationships and conflicts of interest that could influence the study’s results or their interpretation. If there is no conflict of interest, this must be clearly stated at the end of the article as follows: “The authors have declared no conflicts of interest.”
