• The TRT Academy Journal is a peer-reviewed academic journal published three times a year (January, May, September). The Journal primarily focuses on communication science, in line with TRT's main service area, while also encompassing other social sciences and interdisciplinary studies.
• Each issue has a designated theme, however, articles outside the scope of the theme may also be considered for publication. The journal aims to be a dynamic and influential academic platform that contributes to academic literature and serves as a reference source.

• Manuscripts submitted for publication in the TRT Academy Journal should be scientific and original research papers, review articles, evaluation essays, book reviews, or translations in Turkish and English. These works should address topics related to communication science, its sub-disciplines, or interdisciplinary fields connected to communication science. When necessary, interviews and investigative studies may also be included.
• A similarity/plagiarism report is generated for all submitted articles. Manuscripts with a high similarity rate will be automatically rejected.
• Submitted works must not have been published in another journal or simultaneously be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
• The editorial team of the TRT Academy Journal initially reviews manuscripts for compliance with the journal's writing guidelines and publication principles. The manuscripts are then evaluated by the issue editor and the Editorial Board. Once approved by the guest editor and the Editorial Board, manuscripts are sent to two reviewers for peer review based on their respective fields of expertise. If necessary, a third reviewer may be consulted (Evaluation timeframes for reviewers and revisions by authors are communicated by the editor).
• If necessary, the guest editor, Editorial Board, and editorial team may reject and return manuscripts with justification.
• Authors must submit the requested revisions within the deadline specified by the TRT Academy Journal. Manuscripts not returned within the specified period may either be rejected or reconsidered for later issues.
• Studies that are accepted or rejected will not be returned to the authors. However, authors will be notified of the decision.
• Academicians serving as reviewers for the TRT Academy Journal receive a review fee. Additionally, interviews, analyses, and evaluation articles may also be compensated when necessary.

• Articles should be between 4,500 and 8,000 words. Shorter analysis or evaluation articles (1,500–2,500 words) and translations are also accepted. (For translated texts, authors must hold a minimum C-grade in KPDS, ÜDS, or possess an equivalent certification.)
• Manuscripts should be formatted on A4-sized paper with 2 cm margins on both sides, using 12-point Times New Roman font and 1.5-line spacing. Subheadings should be bold, left-aligned, and in a smaller font size than the main title, with only the first letter capitalized.
• The author's name(s) should appear below the title, right-aligned. Institutional affiliation and title should be provided as a footnote (*) at the bottom of the page. Both Turkish and English versions of the institution, faculty, and department names should be included.
• Authors must provide contact details (address, phone number, ORCID, and email address).
• Before the introduction, an English abstract of no more than 250 words should summarize the study’s scope, purpose, methodology, and key findings. For English articles, a Turkish abstract must be provided. Five keywords should be included. (These requirements do not apply to analysis/evaluation articles.)
• The introduction should be labeled "1. Introduction." Subsections should be numbered as "1.1.," "1.2.," etc. The final section should be the conclusion/discussion, followed by notes, references, and appendices (if any).
• Turkish articles should follow the Turkish Language Association's Spelling Guide, while English articles should adhere to the Oxford English Dictionary.
• Turkish articles should prioritize Turkish terminology over foreign words (e.g., the ampersand "&" should not be used).
• Both Turkish and English abstracts must be included in the initial manuscript submission.
• The title should appear above the abstract.
• The abstract should include the research problem, objectives, theoretical perspective, research method, and findings.
• Articles must adhere to the APA 7 referencing style.
• In-text citations should include the author's last name, year, and page number(s) if applicable. Abbreviations such as "a.g.e.," "ibid.," and "op. cit." should not be used.
• Notes should be numbered sequentially and placed before the bibliography.
• If the author's name is not mentioned in the text, citations should appear as (Jarvick, 1996) or (Jarvick, 1996, p. 111) for specific pages.
• For non-consecutive pages, cite as (Jarvick, 1996, pp. 111-113).
• If multiple works by the same author are cited, differentiate them using letters (Noam, 1991a, p. 34).
• Multiple references should be separated by semicolons (Jarvick, 1996, p. 234; Noam, 1991, p. 45; Dörr, 2000, p. 456).
• In English articles, citations should be formatted as (Durkheim, 1900, p. 12) for odd-numbered pages and (Durkheim, 1900, pp. 12-13) for even-numbered pages.
• Use double quotation marks for direct quotes. Block quotations (longer than 40 words) should be in an indented paragraph, without quotation marks, and in a smaller font size than the main text. Single quotation marks should be used for emphasized words. Titles of books and movies should be italicized.
• The TRT Academy Journal follows APA 7 guidelines for referencing and citation.
• Authors must submit visual elements (tables, images, figures) in high resolution as separate files.
• Keywords should be capitalized, and abbreviations should be formatted as “et al.,” (e.g., Caroline Pauwels et al., 2000, p. 89).
• Internet sources must include the access date (e.g., Access Date: 01.02.2023).
• The similarity rate of submitted studies must not exceed 15%. Studies exceeding this threshold will not be considered for evaluation.
• Captions for tables, images, or figures should be 10 pt., bold, and centered below the respective item. If sources are cited for visual elements, they should be placed below the description.

Ethical Principles and Publication Policy
ETHICAL PRINCIPLES
General Principles

1. A double-blind peer review system is implemented for article evaluations to ensure the anonymity of authors and reviewers.
2. TRT Academy Journal follows an open-access, non-profit policy, providing free access to all journal content. No article processing or submission fees are charged, except for reviewer evaluation fees.
3. TRT Academy Journal does not claim publication rights over the articles it publishes. Articles published in the journal must be properly cited when used elsewhere.
4. The journal adheres to the ethical standards outlined in the Council of Higher Education Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive and COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines. Editors, authors, and reviewers are expected to comply with these ethical responsibilities.
5. In case of potential misuse or violations of publication ethics, the journal follows COPE's publication ethics flowcharts (https://publicationethics.org/resources/flowcharts).
Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
1. Submitted manuscripts must not have been previously published or be under consideration elsewhere. Authors cannot submit the same work to multiple journals simultaneously.
2. Authors must possess and provide documentation proving their right to use the data, permissions for research/analysis, or approvals for studies involving human subjects.
3. Manuscripts must be original, with proper citations and references in compliance with APA 7 guidelines.
4. All authors who contributed to the article must be listed, with their respective contribution percentages indicated. A declaration of conflict of interest must also be included.
5. Authors must notify the editorial team of any errors discovered post-publication for necessary corrections.
6. Authors are responsible for obtaining copyright permissions for any images used in their manuscripts.
7. Once the evaluation process has started, author responsibilities (such as adding or removing authors or changing author order) cannot be altered.
8. Manuscripts requiring Ethics Committee Approval must obtain and submit the necessary approval report to the editorial team.
Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
1. All information about the evaluated article must remain confidential. Discussions or disclosures outside the journal’s editorial team are strictly prohibited.
2. Documents related to the review process must not be shared outside the journal's editorial team.
3. Reviewers must conduct evaluations fairly and adhere to the principle of impartiality.
4. Reviewers must complete their evaluations within the given timeframe to avoid delaying the process.
5. They should collaborate with the editor and provide constructive feedback when necessary.
6. Evaluation reports must not contain offensive or derogatory language.
7. Any requested revisions should be clearly and explicitly communicated to the author.
8. If a reviewer encounters a conflict of interest, they must decline to review the manuscript and inform the journal editor.
Authorities and Ethical Responsibilities of the Editorial Team
1. The editor has the authority to determine whether a manuscript proceeds to the evaluation stage after the preliminary review.
2. Editors must implement the blind review and evaluation process fairly and impartially, ensuring timely completion of evaluations.
3. Editors are responsible for safeguarding the personal data of authors, reviewers, and readers.
4. Editors must thoroughly investigate and respond to complaints from authors, reviewers, or readers in a clear and informative manner.
5. Editors must provide explanations and clarifications in response to queries from authors, reviewers, and readers.

Publication Principles
• TRT Academy Journal is a peer-reviewed academic journal published three times a year (January, May, September), primarily focusing on communication science while also covering other social sciences and interdisciplinary studies.
• Each issue has a specific theme, but non-theme articles are also accepted. The journal aims to be a dynamic, high-impact, and academically significant publication.
• Manuscripts submitted for publication must be scientific, original research, review articles, evaluations, book reviews, or translations in Turkish or English related to communication science and its sub-disciplines or interdisciplinary fields. When necessary, interviews and investigative studies may also be included.
• A similarity/plagiarism report is obtained for all submissions. Manuscripts exceeding an acceptable similarity rate are returned.
• Submitted manuscripts must not have been published or be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
• Manuscripts undergo a preliminary review by the editorial team to ensure adherence to submission guidelines. Approved manuscripts are then forwarded to the issue editor and Editorial Board. If approved, manuscripts are sent to two reviewers with expertise in the subject area. If necessary, a third reviewer may be consulted.
• The reviewer evaluation timeframe and author revision deadlines are communicated by the editor.
• The issue editor, Editorial Board, and editorial team reserve the right to reject articles with justification.
• Articles requiring corrections must be revised and resubmitted within the given timeframe. Delayed resubmissions may be returned or deferred to a future issue for reevaluation.
• Manuscripts accepted or rejected for publication will not be returned; authors will only be informed of the decision.
• Reviewers receive compensation for their reviews. When necessary, fees may also be paid for interviews, analyses, and evaluation articles.
• All content published in TRT Academy Journal is evaluated according to TRT Broadcasting Principles.
• Manuscripts containing slang, obscene language, insults, hate speech, or discriminatory content based on religion, language, race, or belief may be rejected at any stage of the review process, even after reviewer evaluations are completed.

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sezai Türk was born in Çankırı, Turkey. He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Çankırı and graduated from Gazi University, Faculty of Communication, in 1993. In 1994, he began his academic career as a research assistant at the Department of Printing Education, Gazi University Faculty of Technical Education.

He received his Master’s degree in 1997 and Ph.D. in 2003, the same year he became a faculty member and department chair. Throughout his career, he held several academic and administrative positions at Gazi University, including assistant director and head of department. He earned the title of Associate Professor in 2010 and Full Professor in 2017.

Since 2018, he has been working as a professor at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema. Between 2021 and 2024, he also served as Dean, Rector’s Advisor, and Vice-Rector at Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University.

Prof. Dr. Türk has conducted extensive academic work on Turkic World cinema, culture, and identity, contributing through numerous articles, books, projects, and conferences. He has also served as a jury member at national and international film festivals, as well as an expert witness, editor, and referee for many academic journals.

In recognition of his contributions to the Turkic World and Turkish culture, he has received multiple awards, including the Kyrgyz Republic’s Distinguished Service Medal and the 2024 Scientist of the Year Award presented by TABBİR, İÇAN, and DJB.

Ekmel Gecer is a Professor of Social Psychology at Marmara University in Istanbul. He holds a PhD from Loughborough University and has a diverse academic background spanning psychology, communication, and theology. Dr. Gecer began his academic career as a lecturer in the Psychology Department at the University of Health Sciences in Istanbul, where he taught from 2019 to 2023, following a four-year tenure at Sakarya University (2015-2019). He has also delivered lectures at prestigious institutions across Europe, including the University of Dortmund (Germany), Würzburg University (Germany), Birmingham City University (UK), International Balkan University, University of Warsaw (Poland) and Sigmund Freud University (Vienna).
Dr. Gecer's academic journey began with studies in theology in Turkey, followed by a Master’s degree in Religious Psychology. His growing interest in communication and psychology led him to pursue postgraduate research in the UK. He completed a second Master’s degree in New Media, Governance, and Democracy at the University of Leicester in 2009, with a thesis on "Political Communication and Psychology." During this time, he also contributed regularly to Turkish periodicals and newspapers.
Dr. Gecer’s research interests span a wide range of topics, including psychology, politics, media, and communication. He has published numerous articles in leading scientific journals and presented his work at national and international conferences. His research specializes in social psychology, mainly communication, media, cyberpsychology, and political psychology. He has also made significant contributions to projects focused on multiculturalism and psychology.
