İklim ve Çevre Değişikliği Farkındalığı Ölçeği: Geçerlik ve Güvenilirlik Çalışması

Öz

Bu çalışma, öğretmen adaylarının çevre ve iklim değişikliği farkındalığını ölçmek için geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçek geliştirmeyi amaçlamıştır. Ölçeğin geçerliliğini ve güvenilirliğini test etmek için iki ayrı çalışma yürütülmüştür. Birinci çalışmada, katılımcılar 286 öğretmen adayı olmuştur. Varimax rotasyonlu PAF analizine dayanarak beş faktörlü bir yapı ortaya çıkmıştır. Toplam ölçek için Cronbach alfa katsayısı 0,94 olmuştur. Mann-Whitney U testine göre, kadınlar üçüncü faktörde ve toplam ölçekte erkeklerden anlamlı derecede daha yüksek puan almıştır. Ayrıca, katılımcıların iklim ve çevre değişikliği hakkındaki farkındalık düzeyleri sınıf düzeyine göre farklılık göstermemiştir. İkinci çalışma 232 öğretmen adayını içermiştir. CFA sonuçları, ölçeğin beş faktörlü yapısını doğrulamıştır. Toplam ölçek için alfa katsayısı 0,96 olmuştur. İklim ve Çevre Değişikliği Farkındalık Ölçeği'nin son versiyonu 32 maddeden ve beş faktörden oluşmaktadır. Bulgulara dayanarak, ölçek, öğretmen adaylarının iklim ve çevre değişikliği farkındalığını ölçmede uygun, geçerli ve güvenilir bir araç olarak kabul edilmektedir.

Climate and Environmental Change Awareness Scale: Validity and Reliability Study

Öz

This study aimed to develop a valid and reliable scale to measure teacher candidates' environmental and climate change awareness. Two separate studies were conducted to test the validity and reliability of the scale. In Study 1, participants were 286 teacher candidates. A five- factor structure emerged based on the PAF analysis with varimax rotation. Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the total scale was .94. Based on the Mann-Whitney U test, women scored significantly higher than men on the third factor and the total scale. Furthermore, participants' levels of awareness about climate and environmental change did not differ by grade. Study 2 involved 232 teacher candidates. CFA results confirmed the five-factor structure of the scale. The alpha coefficient for the total scale was .96. The final version of the Climate and Environmental Change Awareness Scale consisted of 32 items and five factors. Based on the findings, the scale is considered a suitable, valid, and reliable tool in measuring teacher candidates’ awareness of climate and environmental change.
