İlhan ÖZGÜL is a Professor of music education and Head of the Department of Fine Arts Education at the Faculty of Education of Kastamonu University, Turkey. He holds a Bachelor of Music from Department of Music Teacher at Marmara University (1986), a Master of Music Education from Gazi University (1997) and a PhD in Music Education from the Necmettin Erbakan University (2013). He has worked as a music teacher in many institutions connected to the Turkish Ministry of Education, such as in primary school and at Anatolian Teacher High School. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses with on emphasis music teacher preparation, such as polifonic chorus education, theory and practice of western music, music teaching Programs, music teaching and learning approaches, new approaches in music education, music educataon researches. Dr. Özgül has presented papers at regional, national, and international research conferences and has articles published such as International Journal of Music Education, Journal of Education and Training Studies, Educational Research and Reviews, International Education Studies, Journal of Education and Learning. His researches has focused on teacher education, choral education, music education, motivation curriculum development/analysis. He is sole author two books titled Music Education and Teaching and General Music education. He serves as the editorial board of Kastamonu Education Journal, several international peer-reviewed Journals, He also serves as a reviewer for other Journals, conferences and symposia. In 2015, he served as the Head of the Department during the establishment process of the Fine Arts Education Department and as the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education between 2019 and 2023. Since 2015, Music Education Department has been conducting “polyphonic choir training” courses and has organized many “polyphonic choir” concerts in this context.
