Ondokuz Mayıs University Journal Education Faculty is a journal that aims to contribute to a wide range of fields from pre-school education to higher education and adult education by establishing qualified links between theory and practice in the field of education on a national and international scale.
The article published in the journal is recorded both by Ondokuz Mayıs University (with the Open Journal System) and by the National Library EYDES.
It is expected that the studies to be accepted for publication in the journal will offer new and original contributions in terms of theory and practice in the fields of education.Ondokuz Mayıs University Journal of Education Faculty accepts studies that are based on research, contribute to the field, examine new and different current developments, which are complied with scientific norms and scientific ethics.
Author guidelines
Text
Abstract
Short Turkish abstract between 200-250 words. There will be no references and no abbreviations in the abstract.
Keywords
Keywords should be written between 4-6 keywords.
Keywords can be used for indexing.
Text Formatting
Text must be sent in MS-Word word processing file format (doc or docx). Other file formats will not be accepted.
While preparing the text, the template in the submission files must be used (https://dergipark.org.tr/journal/1097/submission/start).
Titles
Headings should not be numbered.
No blank lines should be left after the title.
Only the first letters of the titles should be capitalized.
More than three levels of heading should not be used.
The first level heading should be bold only, the second level heading should be bold and italic , and the third level heading should only be italic.
Headings should be with the next text.
Abbreviations
Abbreviations should be defined at the first mention in the text. Abbreviations should not be used in the abstract.
Footnotes
Footnotes can be included in the text. There should be no bibliography in footnotes. Footnotes should be given on the first page, if possible. Footnotes should be numbered automatically by the word processor. Footnotes should be numbered as 1,2,3 .. (Arabic format). Footnotes should be preferred instead of endnotes.
Acknowledgments
The acknowledgment section to be written for the institution, organization or person who contributed to the preparation of the research should be written just before the bibliography. Abbreviations should not be used in names of persons, institutions or organizations.
Scientific Format
The units to be used in the text should be given in SI type.
If possible, generic names should be preferred to brand names. For example, "word processor" should be preferred instead of "MS-Word".
The decimal separator must be used in all text with a period (.) or comma (,). For example, when expressing the number of pi, it should be made as 3.14 or 3.14; or, for the level of significance: p <0.5 should be written. The zero before the point must be used.
References
All references should be given in APA 6 (http://www.apastyle.org/) format. Another bibliography notation should be used. Abbreviations should not be used in journal or book titles in the bibliography. DOI number should be added to the end of the references with this number.
Tables
All tables should be where they should be in the text.
All tables should be numbered with 1,2,3 ... (Arabic format).
For each table, the table title should be given above the table. The table title should be with the next text. To do this, right click on the header text, then click Keep with Paragraph / Line and Page Break / Next.
Titles should be left justified.
Table text should be in Book Antiqua type and 10 point size. If the tables do not fit on the page (as columns or rows), Book Antiqua can be edited in 9 point size.
The table should be left justified in the text. Table and column width should be adjusted automatically. To do this, click the right mouse button in the table, use the "Auto Fit / Auto Fit To Content" option in the menu that appears.
Footnotes in the table should be given with a superscript star (two stars for the second, three stars for the third ...) and should be located just below the table.
Figures
All figures should be left justified where they should be in the text.
All figures should be numbered 1,2,3 ... (Arabic format).
For each figure, the figure title should be given below the figüre, and it should be left justified.
Full Text in English
OMÜ-EFD publishes each article in full text in Turkish and full text in English for the December issue, including the works that are uploaded to the system. Accordingly, for the studies written by the author (s) whose native language is Turkish, after completing the referee evaluation process and receiving acceptance, a document (certificate) obtained from a certified editorial service company will be required to upload the full English text of the article to our journal's system.
If the study is written in English by the author (s) whose native language is Turkish, the article will be uploaded to our journal for the first time with a document (certificate) obtained from a certified editorial company, and after the article is accepted, the author (s) will be asked to upload a Turkish copy to the system.
Works written by the native English-speaking author (s) will also be required to upload the article to the system along with the document (certificate) received from a certified editorial company before the first application.
Ethical Principles and Publication Policy
1)Author (s) must submit an original study to the Journal of Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Education.
2)Author (s) must submit their unpublished work.
3)Submitting work to more than one journal at the same time is unethical. Author (s) should not submit an article published elsewhere or submitted for publication.
4)Any conflict of interest should be clearly stated.
5)The author accepts the accuracy of the data in the development of the article.
6)Any errors found after the publication of the article should be reported to the Editor immediately.
7)The author (s) should correctly cite the sources used during the writing of the article in line with ethical principles.
8)The names of people who do not contribute to the article should not be written as authors, and it should not be suggested to change the order of the author of an article submitted for publication; or to remove or add authors.
9)In the event that information or raw data are requested from the author (s) during the evaluation process, they should submit the expected information to the Editors.
10)The author (s) must document that they have obtained the rights to use the data they use in their articles, permission for research-analysis, or the consent of the participants on which they have researched.
11)The author (s) received the approval of the ethics committee for studies that require data collection through quantitative or qualitative methods such as experiments, questionnaires, scales, interviews, observations, focus group studies that require the decision of the ethics committee; The name of the ethics committee, the date, and number of the decision should be indicated on the first-last page of the candidate article and in the method section, and the document showing the ethics committee decision should be uploaded to the system with the application of the article. In addition, case reports should include information about obtaining the consent / consent form in the article.
12)The author (s) should provide evidence (such as obtaining permission from others to use documents such as scale, questionnaire, photograph) in the article, as evidences that they adhere to ethical principles in the data collection process. It should be stated in the articles that research and publication ethics and copyright regulations for intellectual and artistic works are complied with. If the research was carried out on human and animal subjects, it should be reported that the research was carried out in accordance with international reports, guidelines, etc.
13)Ethics committee approval is not required from the author (s) for review articles. However, it should be stated in the first-last page and method section of the article that an ethics committee decision is not required for articles that do not require an ethics committee decision.
THE BLIND REVIEW AND EVALUATION PROCESS
Blind refereeing is a method applied for publishing scientific publications with the highest quality. This method forms the basis of the objective evaluation process of scientific studies and is preferred by many scientific journals. All studies submitted to the Journal of Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Education are evaluated by blinding according to the following stages.
Blind Arbitration Type:
The Journal of Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Education uses the double blind method in the evaluation process of all studies. In the double blind method, the identities of the authors and referees of the studies are hidden.
Initial Evaluation Process:
Studies submitted to the Journal of Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Education are first evaluated by the editors. At this stage, studies that do not comply with the purpose and scope of the journal, are weak in terms of language and expression rules in Turkish and English, contain scientific critical errors, have no original value and do not meet the publication policies are rejected. Authors of rejected studies are informed within one month at the latest from the date of submission. Studies that are deemed appropriate are sent to a field editor for the field of interest for pre-evaluation.
Pre-Evaluation Process:
In the pre-evaluation process, field editors examine the introduction and literature, method, findings, conclusion, evaluation and discussion sections of the studies in detail in terms of journal publishing policies and scope and originality. Studies deemed unsuitable as a result of this review are returned within four weeks at the latest with the field editor’s evaluation report. Studies found appropriate are taken into the refereeing process.
Refereeing Process:
Studies are refereed according to their content and expertise of the referees. The editor of the field who examines the study suggests at least two referees from the referee pool of the Journal of Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Education, or may suggest new referees suitable for the field of study. The referee suggestions from the field editor are evaluated by the editors and the studies are forwarded to the referees by the editors. Referees must guarantee that they will not share any process and document about the work they evaluate.
Referee Reports:
Referee evaluations are generally; It is based on originality, method used, compliance with ethical rules, consistent presentation of findings and results, and review of the literature. This review is based on the following factors:
Introduction and literature: the evaluation report includes the presentation and aims of the problem in the study, the importance of the subject, the scope of the literature on the subject, its currency and the originality of the study.
Method: The evaluation report includes information on the suitability of the method used, the selection and characteristics of the research group, validity and reliability, as well as an opinion on the data collection and analysis process.
Findings: The evaluation report includes opinions on the presentation of the findings obtained within the framework of the method, the accuracy of the analysis methods, the consistency of the findings reached with the aims of the research, the presentation of the tables, figures and visuals needed, and the conceptual evaluation of the tests used.
Evaluation and discussion: the evaluation report includes discussion of the topic based on the findings, compliance with the research question (s and hypothesis (s), generalizability and applicability.
Conclusion and suggestions: the evaluation report includes a contribution to the literature, an opinion on suggestions for future studies and applications in the field.
Style and expression: the evaluation report includes the opinion about the content of the study title, the use of Turkish in accordance with the rules, the submission and references to the language of the full text in accordance with the examples under the journal publication principles.
General evaluation: the evaluation report includes an opinion about the originality of the study as a whole, and its contribution to the literature and practices in the field.
During the evaluation process, the referees are not expected to make adjustments according to the typographical features of the study.
Referee Evaluation Process:
The time given to the referees for the referee evaluation process is 2 weeks. Correction suggestions from referees or expert editorial board members must be completed by the authors within 2 weeks. Referees can examine the revisions of work and decide whether it is appropriate or, if necessary, request corrections more than once.
Evaluation Result:
Comments from referees are reviewed by the field editor within two (2) weeks at the latest. As a result of this review, the editor of the field transmits its final decision regarding the study to the editors.
Editorial Board Decision:
Editors prepare editorial board opinions on the study based on the opinions of the field editor and referees. The opinions prepared are forwarded to the author (s) by the editor together with the field editor and referee recommendations within 1 week at the latest. In this process, the works that are given negative opinions are returned without requesting a plagiarism check. The final decision is made according to the results of the plagiarism audit reports for the studies with positive opinions.
Authors publishing their works in this journal have accepted the following conditions:
1) The author holds the copyright of the work and gives the first publication right to the journal.
2) The author may make separate contractual arrangements for the distribution of the published version of the work in the journal without full authorization (for example, sending it to an institutional database or publishing it in a book).
3) Authors are encouraged to share their works on the internet (for example, in an institutional database or on their own websites) before sending them to the journal or while the submission process is in progress; this can lead to both fruitful exchanges of ideas and earlier and more citations to the work.
Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Education Journal does not charge any fee from the authors for any reason during the submission, evaluation, and publication phase of the candidate article.
