Digitalization has led to an increase in mental illnesses such as depression, stress, anxiety, attention deficit disorder, and some physical public health problems such as muscle, joint, and spine disorders. Users have begun to resort to individual protection methods against these problems. One of them, digital detox, is a system of voluntarily avoiding excessive and harmful use of digital devices that has emerged in the recent past. Digital detox has been studied as a concept for the last 10 years. It is a new concept and has some deficiencies. This research was built with a literature review from qualitative research methods in order to eliminate this deficiency. Some results were obtained from the research. Among the results obtained at the end of this research was that there was an uncertainty in the definition of the concept in terms of digital device and duration. Again, in other results of the research, it was determined that the strategies for digital detox applications were listed as a suggestion. In other words, it was understood that digital detox applications are not a proven and valid treatment technique based on clinical case studies. However, despite this, it was also among the results reached in the research that it was used by the authorities in some health institutions in order to reduce the harms caused by digitalization. At the end of the study, it was recommended that future studies be conducted to expand the theoretical framework of the concept. Finally, it was suggested that psychiatrists conduct clinical case studies in order for it to be accepted as a treatment technique by the World Health Organization (WHO).
